The Curse of Monkey Island (1997)
Guybrush Threepwood, mighty pirate!

Few games made me laugh out loud as much as The Curse of Monkey Island. The art was gorgeous, the writing was razor-sharp, and Guybrush was as delightfully incompetent as ever. I spent way too much time figuring out the insult sword fighting (again), and the game’s ridiculous logic never failed to amuse me. The humor, the music, the charm—it all made for one of the best adventure games of its time. Even now, it’s one I go back to when I need to get a feeling of the olden days!
